I. Core Functions
1. **Uniform lubrication via water injection; prevents dry grinding and sleeve burnout**
Positioned within the packing layer, the water seal ring receives clean flush water through an external inlet on the pump casing. It distributes this water evenly around the entire circumference of the shaft sleeve, continuously lubricating the friction interface between the packing and the sleeve. This eliminates issues such as dry-grinding heat, smoke, packing burnout, and sleeve scoring, making it the most critical protective component of the sealing system.
2. **High-pressure flushing of sediment; blocks slurry intrusion**
The pressure of the external clean water supply exceeds that of the medium inside the pump chamber. The water seal ring creates an annular water curtain barrier that blocks sand-laden slurry and fine particles from entering the packing chamber. This prevents sediment from embedding in the packing and grinding against the shaft sleeve, significantly reducing the risk of uneven wear, grooving, or premature failure of the sleeve.
3. **Rapid cooling and heat dissipation; stabilizes operating temperature**
Friction generates heat rapidly during high-speed, continuous pump operation. The water seal ring facilitates continuous water circulation to dissipate heat from the sealing chamber, preventing the packing from hardening, carbonizing, or losing elasticity due to high temperatures, thereby ensuring the long-term stability of the sealing system.
4. **Balances air pressure; prevents cavitation and air binding**
Effectively isolates the pump's internal negative pressure and prevents external air from leaking into the pump casing. This avoids malfunctions such as air binding, unstable flow, vibration, and cavitation, ensuring consistent hydraulic efficiency for the entire pump.
II. Product Structural Features
The water seal ring features an integrated, annular design with a central groove and an inner water-flow path. It offers high dimensional precision and excellent concentricity, fitting perfectly against the outer diameter of the shaft sleeve. Its structure is simple yet highly functional:
1. **Smooth inner contact surface:** The inner diameter is precision-machined to be burr-free and undistorted. It fits perfectly over the shaft sleeve without scratching the surface, ensuring smooth operation without binding.
2. **Annular water collection groove (Core feature):** A central annular groove collects, stores, and distributes flush water. This ensures uniform water discharge across a full 360-degree range, preventing localized water shortages or dry grinding on one side. 3. Aligned water inlet ports: Precisely aligned with the water inlet of the pump stuffing box to ensure unobstructed water flow without blockage or interference.
4. Monolithic, one-piece structure: Features no joints or weld seams; offers high strength and resistance to deformation and high-pressure water impact, making it suitable for continuous, heavy-duty 24-hour operation.
